EVENT & PARTY PLANNING

Organising a successful party involves a huge amount of planning and attention to detail. So whether it's a birthday celebration, a casual get-together, or a fancy cocktail soirée, here are some essential tips that we thought you might find useful when organising your drinking & mixing needs. Remember to plan ahead as it does take a considerable amount of time and effort to put together a great event!

Theme your party:

This is the most important part, knowing what type of event you're planning and how to match your decor. Ensure you're not going to have everyone turn up in beach gear at a dinner party, even though your thought it was a good idea, it probably isn't. Matching the theme to the event is key. Many people will know what type of event they are expected to expect.

Setup a Budget:

Costs can easily get out of hand. Prepare a budget within your means, it’s so easy to overspend, but remember you don’t have to break the bank in order to entertain guests. Most people enjoy good food and drink options, good company and plenty of good entertainment. You and your guests should also take travel into consideration. Unless you're hiring big name acts, and all that jazz is not as important as you think! If you’re looking for affordable wine for guests, simple boxed wines cost between £5-£25 a person, and drinks, when bought from us, between £7-£12 a person. Stock up your budget and don’t overspend.

Location, Location, Location:

Choosing a good location makes for a memorable event. Even though you’ve already booked the venue, don’t just book any hall just because it’s available. Do some solid research in the area where you’re planning to host and negotiate with the venue directly. You’ll always get a good deal if you plan ahead. Put down a small deposit, the ones with the best business weekends like Saturday, holiday bookings and Thursday evenings as well as off-peak times of the week.

Guest List and Invitations:

Guest lists can get long, add in extra invitations but remember that everyone will be expected to bring the best food and drinks to match. Allow plenty of room for guests to enjoy the event. You’ll have plenty of space but be sure not to overcrowd your event with long-time friends and long-lost acquaintances. You need an invite in mind before you go. Here is an example of invite style: Name, invitation method, RSVP and phone number.

Entertainment:

Depending on the theme, set up lighting, music, and any other elements that enhance the party atmosphere. For larger events, a DJ or band is always a good idea. To know your crowd from designing elsewhere but not to let Uncle Jack loose on your spotify account.

Food and Drinks:

Plan a menu that suits the occasion. Finger foods, appetizers, and easy-to-eat dishes work well for most parties. Hiring a good caterer for large events is a must. Drinks, we'll have you covered, use our planner above and ensure to submit your inquiry.

No Time to Drink?

We have lots of choice of beers, but we need to keep things in perspective. It’s no good having rosé wine at a bachelor party with a baby shower to host. You’ll have to select the right stuff first!

Food with Drinks:

For events like receptions and corporate events Champagne and sparkling wine work well, as well as quality still wines and bottled beers. A sophisticated cocktail like a Vodka Martini or French 75 are also a nice treat (if you have a bartender).

Outdoor Events:

Sangria, beers and easy-to-drink wines work well for these occasions, ready-to-drink cocktails are also suited, but ensure you have a cooler or ice box.

General Parties (in the early morning):

For parties that are on a slow late evening, add plenty of music and dancing, shirts and mixers are best served. You'll need shots and plenty of them! But take it easy, and ensure you also serve plenty of water, as these type of events leads to dehydration pretty quickly.

Children’s Party:

Oh, no, we recommend you best to stick to juice. Fizzy drinks nor your kid's teeth and booze is not a great idea unless you want to be accused of abusing the little tykes.

Essentials list:

  • Ice and coolers
  • Disposable cups (paper or glassware)
  • Bin bags (for recycling)
  • Boiling kettles
  • Napkins, straws and stirrers (again paper ones)
  • Glasses (for measuring spirits)
  • Plenty of water!
